KINGFIELD, Maine — A Waterville man who smashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer on Lexington Road Monday night ended up in jail for driving drunk, police said.

Jeb Mansfield, 33, has two prior operating under the influence charges on his record and had a conditional license at the time of the accident, according to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols.

Mansfield’s Jeep rear-ended a tractor-trailer driven by Alain Chouinard, 38, of Mont-Laurier, Quebec, Nichols said.

The tractor-trailer was attempting to make a left-hand turn to cross the Route 16 bridge, according to Nichols. Lexington Road doubles as Route 16.

Mansfield and his passenger, whose name was not disclosed, were treated for minor injuries at the scene before Mansfield was arrested and charged with OUI.

He was taken to the Franklin County Jail.
