Crafter’s flea market

BANGOR — A crafter’s flea market will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at The Cotton Cupboard Quilt Shop, 1213 Broadway.

Flea market tables with individual vendors will have craft items available for purchase outside and inside the shop. For information about renting a table for the flea market, call the shop at 941-8900.

 

Device Workshop

U.S. Cellular will offer a free Device Workshop 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at 403 Wilson St. in Brewer, and 8-9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at 33 Mid Mall Boulevard in Bangor.The workshop is open to everyone, regardless of the type of phone they use.

New vice president

BANGOR — Cross Insurance, a subsidiary of Cross Financial Corp., announced recently that longtime employee Laurie Noel was named vice president of personal lines for the corporation.

Noel also serves as regional manager for eight Cross Insurance locations throughout Maine and Massachusetts, including the agency’s branch in Windham, where she continues to serve as branch manager.

 

New staff member

Varney Agency announced that David Quimby, account executive, has joined the company’s Tampa, Florida, office.

Quimby, a native of Bangor, brings more than 15 years of sales experience to Varney Agency. He first began working for the Varney family in Maine, then became co-owner of Acadia Mortgage Company and continued working in the mortgage industry in Maine, then in Florida. He is now a licensed mortgage broker and real estate sales agent in Florida.

“It will be a smooth transition to the insurance industry, as David’s deep-rooted relationships within the Florida community have set him up for success. With determination and an entrepreneurial spirit, David will be able to offer a different product to his current network of clients and continue to build proactively his network of relationships throughout the state of Florida.” said Tim Varney, president and CEO of Varney Agency, in a company press release.

Quimby attended University of Maine and University of Tampa and holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Seminole State College in Florida.
