KENNEBUNK, Maine — A community came together Saturday night for a family who lost their son to disease and their home to fire months later.

Mike and Kim Gould’s son Jacob Gould passed away in January after a battle with muscular dystrophy.

In June, fire destroyed their Kennebunk home and most of their belongings.

Now, family and friends are doing all they can to help them rebuild their lives, including a Saturday spaghetti dinner.

“Mike and Kim Gould are basically second parents to us from high school,” Molly Alexander said. “They’re a very important family to us. To see them go through what they’ve been through is very hard, and we just wanted to help them out somehow.”
