Three killed in Dedham crash

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

DEDHAM, Maine — All three of the people involved in a vehicular accident on U.S. Route 1A late Tuesday afternoon have died, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Tuesday evening.

The two-car crash occurred about a mile from the Lucerne Inn about 5:45 p.m., when an SUV crossed the center line and slammed into a pickup truck, McCausland said.

The SUV was driven by a man, and the occupants of the truck were a man and a woman, McCausland said. He added that the victims’ names will be released after next of kin has been notified.

As of late Tuesday night, no one had come forward as a witness to the crash.

Route 1A was reopened at about 10 p.m.

McCausland said anyone who may have seen the collision should call the Maine State Police at their new Bangor dispatch center at 973-3700.
