Thomas A. Duffy

OTIS & BANGOR – Thomas Allen “Tom” Duffy, 69, passed away peacefully at his beloved home on Springy Pond this past Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014. Tom was born Sept 7, 1944 in Bangor, the son of Francis B. Duffy Sr. and Ethelyn (Haskell)Duffy.
Tom was a 1962 graduate of John Bapst High School and attended the University of Maine. He served nearly 30 years with the Air National Guard, was a state legislator for ten years and retired in December from the Penobscot County Courthouse as maintenance supervisor. Tom was avid fisherman and an absolute dog lover. He never went far without his beloved companion, Mickey. The last few years Tom has dedicated his love and life to the rescue of his beloved Mickey. He also spent the last few months surrounded by the company of his stepsons, Shawn, Todd and Scott Philbrick, his dear friend, Dave Whitemore, his best friend, Ken Simpson and Carol Jordan who was not only his friend, camp neighbor, but also his loving care-giver. He and his family gratefully appreciate all that they have done.
Tom is survived by his sister, Patricia Pelletier; his sister-in-law, Della Duffy and by his nieces and nephews, Robert MacDonald, Linda Leclerc, Timothy MacDonald, Theresa Hall, James MacDonald, Ann Duffy Patterson, and Jennifer Duffy-Vail. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Francis B. Duffy Jr.
Family and friends may visit 6 – 8 PM Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio St., Bangor. Committal and burial with military honors will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. A reception will be held immediately afterward. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Mickey Duffy Trust Fund for Animal Rescue, PO Box 295, Eddington, ME 04428.
