23 teens charged with alcohol possession, face additional charges in connection with Ellsworth party

ELLSWORTH, Maine — Nearly two dozen teenagers from Hancock County are facing charges after local police busted an underage drinking party on Garden Street early Sunday morning.

Each of the 23 people charged were summoned for possession of alcohol by a minor, according to an Ellsworth Police Department summary report of the incident.

Two of the 23 charged with alcohol possession face additional charges, according to police. A local 17-year-old girl also was summoned on a charge of furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol, while an 18-year-old male from Bar Harbor, Teagan Candage, was arrested on a charge of refusing to submit to arrest.

Those 18 years old or older, who are considered adults under state law, were charged with illegal possession of alcohol by consumption:

— Jared Bragg, 18, of Ellsworth

— Dylan Carroll, 19, of Southwest Harbor

— Stephen Cowles, 18, of Ellsworth

— Andrew Davis, 18, of Tremont

— Fionnbharr McMahon-Allwire, 18, of Surry

— Cole Pettegrow, 18, of Southwest Harbor

— Jonathan Phelps, 18, of Southwest Harbor

— Tristan Rayner, 19, of Gouldsboro

— Sidney St. Peter, 18, of Ellsworth

Four 17-year-old boys, a 17-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl — all from Ellsworth — also were charged with illegal possession of alcohol by consumption. In addition, two 17-year-old boys from Franklin, a 15-year-old girl from Hancock, a 17-year-old girl from Lamoine and a 17-year-old girl from Gouldsboro each were summoned on the same charge.
