PORTLAND, Maine — The Portland Sea Dogs had their bats zapped again and managed just two hits in a 5-1 loss to the Trenton Thunder on Friday night at Hadlock Field.

Trenton’s Tyler Austin got the scoring going in the top of the fourth inning with a solo home run to right off of Wilfredo Boscan. Sean Coyle bounced back in the bottom of the frame with his 13th homer of the season against Manny Banuelos.

The stalemate was short-lived as Trenton (55-59) took the lead for good in the top of the fifth. Boscan gave up a one-out single to Dan Fiorito and walked Casey Stevenson, then Ali Castillo hit a three-run homer to put the Thunder in front 4-1.

Banuelos retired the side in order in the fifth to complete his outing. Three pitchers combined to keep Portland (71-43) off the board the rest of the way.

The Thunder picked up an insurance run in the ninth on a Mason Williams RBI single to center.

Banuelos (1-3) earned his first win of the season, allowing one run on one hit with four strikeouts and three walks. Boscan (1-6) took the loss for Portland, giving up four runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
