ALEXANDER & CRAWFORD – Hilda Jean (Morang) Lord, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on August 1, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Calais on June 2, 1933, the daughter of the late Gene and Ida (Lakin) Morang.
Hilda grew up in Woodland and graduated from St. Croix High School. On August 30, 1952, she married Lawrence S. Lord. She was a homemaker and helped her husband in the family business. Hilda loved her family more than anything else in this world. She was happiest when they all gathered at their home in Alexander or their camp on Crawford Lake. Hilda spent a lot of winters at their home in Zephyrhills, Florida and enjoyed it most when family would come to visit.
Hilda is survived by her loving husband Lawrence S. Lord of 62 years; her children, Barbara Clark (Arnold Corning) of Meddybemps, Bonnie Carson (David) of Glenburn, Terry Lord (Lisa) of Meddybemps, Paula Seavey (Kenny) of Crawford, and Larry Lord (Laura Jean) of Meddybemps; 13 grandchildren, Lisa Hinman (Derek) of Clifton Park, NY, David Adam Carson (Amy) of Glenburn, Jennifer Barker (Trevor) of Glenburn, Matthew Lord (Hollye) of Meddybemps, James Carson (Anna) of Barnegat, NJ, Megan Lord and fiancé Andrew Seavey of Baring, Dylan and Logan Lord of Alexander, Christina Seavey Bermudez (Albert) of Sanford, FL, Cassandra Lee (Levi) of Port St. Lucie, FL, and John (Kristina), Adam and Ashley (Doug Connolly) Knowles; 12 great-grandchildren, Morganne, Mitchell and Mason Hinman, Olivia Carson, Jadaan Barker, Fenway and Lucas Carson, Haidyn and Logan Seavey, Skylar Lee, Aidan Connolly, and Cayson Knowles. Hilda is also survived by a special son-in-law Phillip Clark of Milltown; two sisters-in-law Gloria Vining of CT, and Marlene Lord of Crawford and Zephyrhills, FL; several nieces and nephews, and her special canine companion, a German Shepherd named Lucy who rarely left her side. In addition to her parents, Hilda was predeceased by her brother, Maurice Morang, sister Natalie (Morang) Gove; a great-granddaughter, Emma Marie Carson; and two brothers-in-law, Maurice Vining and Gordon Lord.
In keeping with Hilda’s wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or American Heart Association.
