PLYMOUTH – Charles Edward Norris, 74, died July 29, 2014 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born Jan. 8, 1940 in Detroit, a son of Roland and Flora (Jackson) Norris.
He had been employed as a handsewer at various shoe shops and retired from Walpole Woodworkers in Detroit. Charles was an avid hunter. He enjoyed both fresh water and ice fishing, and will be remembered as an avid walker. He will also be remembered as a wonderful grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Blanche (Shaw) Norris of Plymouth; a son, Scott and wife, Christine Norris of Union; a brother, Linzy and wife, Tina Norris of Bangor; 2 sisters, Kathy Shorey of NV and Janet Waning of Dixmont; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joanna DeBeck; a son, Tim Norris; a sister, Ermine Rines; and a brother, Lewis Norris.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Sawyer Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
