CLINTON – Mary (Bellows) Bessey, 92, of Clinton, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 27th, 2014. She was born Aug. 1, 1921 in Freedom, Maine to Charles and Fannie (Murch) Bellows.
Mary grew up in Freedom and attended Freedom Academy. On Jan. 29, 1938, she married Edward W. Bessey of Thorndike in Belfast.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, in 1975; both of her parents; siblings, Phyllis Smith and baby brother, Eugene; son-in law, Bernard Charrier; and dear family friend, Phyllis Dodd. Mary is survived by her “girls”, Carlene Bessey of Palmyra and Camilla (Bessey) Charrier of Clinton; two grandchildren, Mary (McKenney) Bernatchez and husband, Glenn, of Clinton and Mark McKenney and fiancée, Robin Pellerin, of East Madison; five great-grandchildren; three very special great-great-grandsons; ten Charrier step-grandchildren and their families; a brother and sister-in-law, Ithamar and Madeline Bellows of Hendersonville, NC; and many nieces & nephews.
