Dorothy A. Becraft

DOVER-FOXCROFT – passed peacefully May 24th 2014 after a sudden illness at a Bangor Hospital with her long-time companion Joe Becraft by her side. Dorothy was born in Washington D.C. Nov. 4th, 1935 to Sherman Midgett and Eva Farr Midgett of Brooksville, Me.

Dorothy worked in the healthcare field most of her life caring for the elderly as well as the handicapped. She had over 250 foster children over a 3 year time frame on an emergency basis. Dorothy also worked for the Piscatiquis County Sherriff’s Dept. as a cook in 1980 before going to work for Dexter shoe from 1981-1984, then returning to healthcare in 1985 working at Fairview Manor in Dover-Foxcroft where she retired from in 1995. She had interests in crafting as well as gardening where she won many ribbons and medals at county fairs.

Dorothy was survived by her long-time companion Joe Becraft, Dover-Foxcroft, 4 children, Harry Elliott, Dover-Foxcroft, Robin Hasenei and her husband Wayne, Palmyra Va., Mary Sellers and her companion Charlie, Hagerstown Md., and Joe Becraft and his companion Debbie Michaud, Lewiston, and 6 Grandchildren Michelle, Kevin, Charlene, Christina, Jaclyn, and Jessica, 9 Great Grandchildren, as well as her two sisters, Helen Mothershead, Germantown Md., and Sharon Midgett, Dover-Foxcroft.

A public graveside service will be held Aug. 2nd at Noon time at Edgewood Cemetery in Brooksville, Me. In lieu of flowers send donations to L/A Veterans Council, 14 Goulet st, Lewiston Me., 04240
