BAR HARBOR, Maine — He is not known for producing medical dramas, but a well-known television producer will have a starring role with the local hospital next week.
Dick Wolf, award-winning producer of “Law & Order” and other TV crime dramas, will be the keynote speaker at Mount Desert Island Hospital’s annual meeting next Monday. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at the Bar Harbor Club on West Street in downtown Bar Harbor.
Wolf is a seasonal resident of the neighboring town of Mount Desert and a longtime supporter of MDI Hospital, according to hospital officials. In 2012, he and his wife, Noelle Wolf, donated money to help fund completion of the hospital’s Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center.
The annual meeting also will feature live music by MDI High School students and a special presentation in honor of Dr. Charlie Hendricks, who recently won the Maine Hospital Association’s Caregiver of the Year award. Admission to the meeting is free of charge and open to the public.
In addition to producing “Law & Order” and related spin-off series inspired by the original, which ran on television from 1990 to 2010, Wolf has produced or written for television series such as “Miami Vice,” “Hill Street Blues” and “L.A. Dragnet,” as well as other series and feature films.
Dick and Noelle Wolf also have supported the Santa Barbara Children’s Museum, the Alliance for Children’s Rights and the Princess Grace Foundation, according to hospital officials. More information is available online at www.mdihospital.org.
