GREENVILLE – Dorothy Iona “Trinky” (Ryan) Collins, 87, passed away peacefully July 17, 2014, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side, at C.A. Dean Hospital in Greenville. She was born March 16, 1927, in Greenville, the daughter of Norman F. and Wanda L. (Bowser) Ryan. Seventeen hours later, her husband of 60 years, Malcolm Edward “Mac” Collins, 84, passed away peacefully July 18, 2014, with his granddaughter by his side at C.A. Dean Hospital in Greenville. He was born December 20, 1929 in Greenville, the son of Donald A. and Hilda (Mountain) Collins.
Although Trinky felt her most important job was being a homemaker, using her cooking, sewing, and knitting skills, she also became a furniture upholsterer, an artist, an Avon lady, a Census taker, and a CNA.
Mac started working in the woods as a teenager with his step-father. He was an army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed 34 years by Scott Paper Co. working on the log drives and as a heavy equipment operator and supervisor. Mac did enjoy a good game of golf.
Trinky was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Thomas Ryan; a sister, Elsie Ryan; and brothers-in-law, Donald and Philip Collins.

They are both survived by their daughters, Wanda Gary and her husband, Walter, and Dorinda Somers and her husband Joe; a son, Mick Collins and his wife, Pam; their “adopted” daughter, Brenda Ronco; grandchildren, Rinda Hanson and former husband, Scott, Walter Gary III and partner, Russ Harrington, Wade Gary and partner, Lisa Warman, Rachel Greenlaw and husband, Ron, Elisa Gary, Briana Collins and partner, Jake Beaty; great grandchildren, Jayde, Autumn, Paris, Elijah, Kaylee, Aysia, Jaycie, Jaymas, Kaylinn, Ellison, Andrea, Whitney, and a baby girl to be born in November; great great grandchildren Jayden and Judah; sister-in-law, Charlotte Collins Dickinson; cousins, nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Kip and Bev Trembley.
