Searsport man charged after allegedly kicking in door, assaulting estranged wife

MONTVILLE, Maine — A Searsport man was arrested this week after allegedly kicking the door in at a North Trotting Road residence and assaulting people inside, including his estranged wife.

Christopher Michael King, 26, barged into the home on Sunday, July 20, Lt. Jason Trundy of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday, and spotted a male friend of his estranged wife.

“He immediately started assaulting the friend,” Trundy said. “Mr. King believed she was possibly having a relationship with him.”

The woman got between King and the other man, and King reportedly assaulted her as well, Trundy said, adding that during the fight, King threatened to kill both of them.

There were several other people present, including children, and someone reported the matter to police.

Responding officers separated everyone and interviewed them, ultimately charging King with domestic violence terrorizing, assault, terrorizing, domestic violence assault and aggravated criminal trespass.

He was taken to Waldo County Jail to be booked, with bail set at $1,000.
