BREWER – Philip J. Gildart, 84, husband of the late Harriet C. Gildart, died July 21, 2014 at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born December 30, 1929 in Bangor, son of Philip J. and Bernice L. (Hunt) Gildart.
Philip was a graduate of Bangor High School and the University of Maine. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Phil was a member of the Maine Broadcasting Hall of Fame, was employed as Sales Manager for Channel 2 and later became Station Manager of Channel 7, retiring as an Account Executive for Channel 2. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and sports enthusiast, particularly enjoying the Boston Red Sox.
Surviving are five children: Joyce Gildart-Currier and her husband, Brian, James M. Gildart and his wife, Roberta, Tony Lopez, Kathleen Reavis and her husband, Joe and Sean Carroll; grandchildren, Lordina, Taylor, Benjamin, Brittany, Whitney, Alison, Lauren and Rebecca; great-grandchildren and one sister, Suzanne Dircksen and her husband, John. The family wishes a special thank you to Jan Logan for her compassionate care and support.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal with military honors at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
