Edwin V. “Poju” Pasanen

EAST MILLINOCKET – Edwin V. “Poju” Pasanen, 88, passed away at his home, on July 21, 2014. He was born August 15, 1925, in McKinnon Georgia, the son of Uno and Taimi Pasanen.

He enjoyed being an alumni of Stearns High School, class of 1944. He worked 44 years at G.N.P. Co. In East Millinocket as a proud union member with Carpenters and Joiners Local 1612, retiring in 1985. He was a founding member of East Branch Sno Rovers and member since 1972. He enjoyed playing pitch with the men and women’s pitch clubs. He spent many summers at South Twin Lake with family and friends, playing cribbage and throwing horseshoes. He and his family took and enjoyed many trips to P.E.I. Poju will always be remembered fondly for his King Edward Cigars, or toothpicks always with him.

He is survived by a daughter, Andrea Rush of Millinocket; a son, Peter and his wife, Kim of East Millinocket; grandchildren, Jennifer Rush and her partner, Jeff Rushlow, and great-grandson, Shane Rushlow of Millinocket; granddaughter, Taimi Pasanen of E. Millinocket; grandson, Nicholas Pasanen; great-grandson, Corbin Pasanen of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. He had a large extended family in Finland and Sweden. Poju was predeceased by his wife, Colleen (Adams) Pasanen; a sister, Este Beaulieu; and a grandson, Peter John Rush.

Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 28th at the East Millinocket Cemetery, for both Poju and Colleen. A celebration of their lives will be held at the East Branch Sno Rovers after the service. We invite all friends and family to come and join us for a luncheon and send off for this proud Finn, who was greatly loved and will be forever missed.
