Chester I. Hawkins

EAST MACHIAS – Chester I. Hawkins, 94, died Tuesday July 22, 2014 in Machias. He was born March 17, 1920 in Wesley to the late Thatcher B. and Bessie (Ingersol) Hawkins.

He was married on August 10, 1944 to Fay I. Berry of East Machias who predeceased him on July 13, 2012. He was loved and will be missed by his children; Gynell Schoppee and husband, Nathan, Pauline Wood and husband, Robert, Michael Hawkins and wife, Mary, Nikki Richardson and deceased husband, Harry; a sister-in-law, Janice Berry; two sisters, Josephine Ambrose and Thelma Treadwell; eight grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

His passion in life was hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed his fifty plus years of Newfoundland moose hunts. He will greatly be missed by his special friends in Codroy Valley, Newfoundland. He was a proud veteran of WWII and Korea. He was also a Mason and a Shriner.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
