NH man airlifted to Maine Medical after motorcycle, car collide

ROCHESTER, New Hampshire — A motorcyclist was airlifted to Maine Medical Center after he was seriously injured in an accident on Milton Road in New Hampshire on Monday afternoon.

Gregory Hughes, 49, of Rochester, New Hampshire, was airlifted after his motorcycle collided with a Chevrolet Cobalt around 4:17 p.m. Monday.

Police say the accident occurred when while Hughes was driving a motorcycle south on Milton Road. Darren Cushman, 51, of Milton, who was driving the car, was pulling out of a business on Milton Road while attempting to take a turn onto the northbound lane of Milton Road.

As he was crossing the southbound lane of the road, his vehicle was struck by the motorcycle, police say.

After the accident, Hughes was transported by ambulance to Skyhaven Airport, then flown to Maine Medical Center by a Life Flight helicopter because of serious injuries he suffered in the crash.

Police say Hughes was wearing a helmet during the collision. Cushman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was not injured.

The collision caused moderate damage to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene.

The accident remains under investigation by Rochester police.
