WILTON, Maine — A local man is facing a felony theft charge after allegedly stealing a check worth more than $600 from his former roommate, according to police.
Tristan Ridlon, 29, faces up to five years in jail if convicted of the Class C crime.
Wilton police Officer Derek Daley said the victim had been waiting for the check to come in, and on July 15, she got word from friends that Ridlon had stolen the check and cashed it at a Farmington store. Daley said the victim notified police the following day.
Daley said Ridlon had a key to the victim’s post office box and was able to steal the check.
Police arrested Ridlon without incident on Thursday and brought him to the Franklin County Jail. Daley said Ridlon has an extensive criminal history.
