BELFAST, Maine — A woman accused of disturbing her neighbors while partially naked last month has been sentenced to serve five days at the Waldo County Jail.

Cassandra Lucas, 22, pleaded guilty last week at Belfast District Court to disorderly conduct and refusing to submit to arrest.

According to the police affidavit filed after her June 9 arrest by Officer Matthew Cook of the Belfast Police Department, Lucas came to police attention after a neighbor called at 1 a.m. to report someone was ringing her doorbell over and over again, as well as banging on the door and sounding like they were trying to force their way in.

Police arrived at the Ryan Road address and saw Lucas, naked from the waist down, outside the home, according to the arrest affidavit.

She went back inside her own residence when she saw police, but reportedly opened the window and started yelling and calling the officers names, Cook wrote in the affidavit. Then she came out of her apartment wearing nothing but a bedsheet and creating another disturbance, he wrote.

Officers arrested her while she was wearing the bedsheet, asking them not to do it because her 1-year-old child was asleep alone inside her home. While they were enroute to the jail, Lucas allegedly banged her head against the cage in the back of the police cruiser, causing profuse bleeding.

Police were able to find her sister, who agreed to take care of the baby.

Lucas’ bail conditions stipulated that she not use or possess alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs, as well as comply with a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
