WALDOBORO, Maine — Cape Elizabeth recorded two victories in the second day of the Little League all-star softball state tourney for ages 9-10 Sunday.
Cape Elizabeth beat Medomak 24-7 in the day’s first game and then defeated Biddeford 11-1 in the second game. Biddeford then topped Medomak 21-4 in the day’s final game.
In the first game, Anna Cornell recorded four singles to help Cape Elizabeth prevail. Abby Agrondia and Kathryne Clay each chipped in with two singles while Katharine Blackburn and Dana Schwartz each added a double. Clark Parker, Helena Rieger, Katherine Callahan and Analise Gordon each had a single.
Autumn Ripley and Taylor Podrasky each recorded a double to lead Medomak. Stephanie Morse, Eliza Nelson, Cameron Bains and Baylee Steward each had a single.
In the second game, Cape Elizabeth’s Anna Cornell allowed only one hit to help her team prevail as Cape took advantage of walks to score its runs.
In the third game, Charlotte Donovan notched a triple and three singles to power Biddeford to victory. Chantelle Bouchard and Jayme Walton each added two singles while Laura Perreault, Anna Lavigne and Aliyah Bureau added a single apiece.
On Saturday, South Lewiston recorded two victories in the opening rounds of the tourney.
South Lewiston beat Bangor 7-4 in the first game and then Ellsworth defeated Bangor 25-3 in the second game while South Lewiston topped Ellsworth 8-4 in the third game.
In the first game, Skylar Gelinas doubled twice to lead South Lewiston and winning pitcher Gemma Landry allowed only two hits.
Emily Strachan added a triple for South Lewiston while Mikaela Wagner, Charlotte Cloutier and Julia Svor each recorded a double. Landry, Lauren Foster, and Ahna Dotsie each had a single.
India Moon and Kelly Dicarlo each notched a single for Bangor.
In the second game, Julia Perconti and Grace Garrison each recorded a double and single to lead Ellsworth. Elise Dow added three singles and Lucy Morrison had one.
Lilly Smith and Jenna Smith each singled for Bangor.
In the third game, South Lewiston scored five runs in the third inning to take the win as Landry picked up another win
Emily Strong, Skylar Gelinas, Foster, Abygayle Svor and Ahna Dostie each singled for South Lewiston
Kaylee Morey, Sara Shea, Carter, Perconti and Dow each contributed a single for Ellsworth.
