MINOT, Maine — A 5-year-old girl who was found unresponsive in the bottom of a Minot swimming pool Thursday evening remains at Maine Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition, Portland television station WGME reported late Friday afternoon.
Officials from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said the child was swimming with eight other children at a home on Fortin Drive when she sank to the bottom of the pool and didn’t come back up.
The child was given CPR, police said. The girl initially was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston but later was transferred to the Portland hospital.
The child’s name has not been released.
