ORRINGTON – Virginia Pearson Haseltine, beloved wife of Richard S. Haseltine, died on June 24,2014 at Sonagee Nursing Facility in Bar Harbor at the distinguished age of 90. Ginny was born on August 13, 1923 in Corinna, the only daughter of Carrie (Eastman) and Roy D. Pearson. She graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1942,and Brattleboro Business Institute in Vermont. With the birth of their first son in 1949,Ginny took on what she considered her primary role as she and Dick raised sons Rick and Scott At their home in Orrington. In 1963 Ginny went to work outside the home as Executive Secretary to the Director of nursing at Bangor Mental Health Institute. Known for her exceptional organizational skills, she remained there until her retirement in 1983. Retirement was spent canoeing, going to yard sales, and above all, cooking. Ginny loved to cook, and collect cookbooks. She was a true optimist and very rarely did one ever see Ginny when she was not cheerful. Ginny was predeceased by her husband Dick, her son Rick, and brothers James & Robert Pearson & Bob’s wife Arlene. She is survived by her son Scott & wife Nancy D’Agostino, granddaughter Carrie Patterson,her husband Jason &their children Moriah & Jacob, and daughter-in-law & rick’s life companion, Cyndi Simpson. She is also survived by many nieces & nephews who all have fond memories of Aunt Ginny, especially Janie Ames who remained devoted to Ginny to the end of her time here. A private graveside service will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta where she will be buried with her beloved Richard.
