DEDHAM, Maine — A garage at Roy’s Marine Services on Bald Mountain Drive was damaged by fire Wednesday morning, officials said.
The blaze was called in at 5 a.m., when a motorist heading to work saw smoke, knocked on the door of an adjacent residence and called 911, Dedham Fire Chief Craig Shane said.
The residents, who own the adjacent business, were home at the time of the fire, which did not affect the house, Shane said.
The chief said no boats were damaged by the fire, but the garage had a stack of motors and other equipment inside.
The building suffered heavy damage but is salvageable, Shane said. Bald Mountain Road was closed for much of the morning while crews from Holden, Dedham, Orrington and Eddington fought the fire, which was under control in about 30 minutes.
A cause has not been determined, but Shane said the fire does not appear suspicious.
