Miles G. Lufkin

OLD TOWN AND LAGRANGE – Miles G. Lufkin, 103, died July 14, 2014 at an Orono health care facility. He was born Dec. 16, 1910, in Woodland (Aroostook County), a son of Edward and Annie (Nelson) Lufkin.

Miles was a self employed logging contractor in Lagrange for many years having lived in Lagrange for 83 years before retiring to Old Town 11 years ago. He also will be remembered for farming, and building houses in Orono and camps at Schoodic Lake. He was married to Mary (Waterhouse) to for 35 years. He traveled extensively to all 50 States, had a love for dancing even into his 90′s.

He is survived by a son, Glendon Lufkin of Kingman, AZ; daughter, Norma Spencer of Dover-Foxcroft, stepdaughter, Cheryl Cunningham of Lebanon; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren including his namesake, Miles; a brother, George Lufkin and his wife, Mildred of Old Town; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary in 1986; daughter, Janice Ross, brother, Eugene Lufkin, and three grandsons.

Friends may call 10-10:30 a.m. Friday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Lagrange Cemetery, Lagrange.
