WATERBORO, Maine — Speed and alcohol were possible factors in a single-vehicle accident that sent a Waterboro man to the hospital Sunday night, police said.

Dana Allen, 49, was heading south on Town House Road when he lost control of his pickup truck around 8:30 p.m., Chief Deputy William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office said.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that Allen veered onto the right shoulder, overcorrected and went into a skid, King said, and his pickup struck several trees and rolled over.

The impact ejected Allen out of the vehicle, the chief deputy said. Allen, who was the vehicle’s lone occupant, was conscious and alert when paramedics arrived at the scene and was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

York County sheriff’s deputies and Waterboro Fire and Rescue responded to the accident, which remains under investigation.
