CORINNA – Betty Ann Nelson, 92, died July 13, 2014 at a Pittsfield nursing facility. She was born October 6, 1921 in St. Albans, a daughter of Harry and Bernice (Wing) Nelson.
Betty’s early education was in the old Hopkins School on the Square Road in St. Albans. She graduated from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1939, and attended the University of Maine in Orono. Growing up on the family farm, she helped her parents and siblings with the many chores and the preparation of meals for the hired help. Betty also was her father’s “right hand man” in his mobile home business in St. Albans and Hartland. Betty and her father Harry also raised and raced horses. She will be remembered for her knitting and crocheting, and the cooking she loved to do.
Betty is survived by her brother and wife, James and Arlene Nelson of Corinna; nieces, Darlene Wark of Glendale, AZ, Maria Lewis of Dexter, Carmen Burgess of Cave Junction, Oregon, Elainna Guerette of Littleton, Colorado, and Roxane Nelson of Bangor; nephews, Robert Huntley of Alabama, Von Eric Nelson of Milford, Reginald Nelson of Carmel, and Ronnie Nelson; as well as a sister-in-law, Alberta Nelson of Dexter. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Edward Nelson, sister, Ella Weeks, nephew, Allen Huntley, and niece, Dianne Huntley.
Graveside committal services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 18th at Corinna Village Cemetery, with Pastor Stan Griffin officiating.
