MARYSVILLE, CA AND FORT FAIRFIELD – Arthur W. MacDougal, 93, husband of the late Mary “Kay” MacDougal, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at his daughter Linda’s home in Marysville, CA, following a brief illness. He was born September 8, 1920 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Colwell and Lucy (Everitt) MacDougal.
He attended Fort Fairfield schools and served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific. He had been employed by the Fort Fairfield Highway Department for thirty years prior to his retirement in December of 1983 and was a member of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Fort Fairfield.
In addition to his parents, Mr. MacDougal was predeceased by his wife, Mary “Kay” on May 22, 1983; one son, David A. MacDougal; five brothers, Robert, Philip, Wendell, Kenneth and Lawrence MacDougal; a sister, Priscilla Leeman; a son-in-law, Ralph Morris; and a daughter-in-law, Pauline MacDougal. He is survived by one daughter, Linda Morris of Marysville, CA; four sons, Frederick A. MacDougal and his wife, Doreen of Willow Creek, Alaska, Arthur C. “Blackie” MacDougal and his wife, Arlene, Eugene P. MacDougal, all of Fort Fairfield, Thomas L. MacDougal and his wife, Gayle of Limestone; daughter-in-law, Mrs. David (Debbie) MacDougal of Fort Fairfield; one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Bill McQuade of Sanford; twenty-six grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Kinsey officiating. Interment with military honors will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
