BANGOR — The State Street Neighborhood Old Fashioned Block Party will take place 6-8 p.m.  Tuesday, July 29, in Chapin Park, located behind Abraham Lincoln School between Forest and Parkview avenues.

The party is made possible by the contributions of a record number of State Street and other interested area businesses. The annual event is an opportunity for management and employees of local enterprises to present the free event as a thank you to the community for their many successful years of business in Bangor.

As in the past, the Block Party will feature a concert by the Bangor Band 7-8 p.m. There will be hotdogs, ice cream, soda and lemonade.

Sam’s Club will provide hotdogs free of charge and along with Frank’s Bake Shop will provide ice cream for free.

Activities will include Anah Shrine Clowns, face painting, children’s games, special therapy dogs and a pig wandering around for those who wish to see and pet the animals.

The Bangor Public Library volunteers will provide a special Story Time area for children.

Subject to availability, there will be a variety of emergency service vehicles on display from the Bangor Fire Department, Bangor Police Department, Bangor Public Works and Emera Maine.

Chapin Park has been adopted by Eastern Maine Healthcare and is exemplified by a beautiful garden maintained by the Hospice of Eastern Maine Volunteers.

Additional parking will be available at the All Saints Catholic School and restrooms will be available at Abraham Lincoln School.
