Charlene E. (Blake) Scribner

LEE – Charlene E. (Blake) Scribner, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, July 12, 2014 at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln. She was born March 12, 1930 in Lee, the daughter of Orland and Marion (Brown) Blake.

Charlene was a charter member of the Thurlow /Cushman American Legion Auxillary, Northwoods Alliance Church and the Lee Historical Society. She was also one of the founding members of Mt. Jefferson Ski Area. She was a graduate and longtime employee of Lee Academy. Charlene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always making sure everyone had a homemade meal.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Robert Blake, her sister, Dorothy Linscott, and her daughter-in-law, Anna Lee (Jipson) Scribner. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Claude M. Scribner; her three children, Richard and Jo-Ellen Scribner, Jane and Bruce

Clendenin, and Claudette and Carroll Albert; her six grandchildren, Rob and Gina Scribner, Andy Scribner, Bart and Jennifer Clendenin, Sterlynn Clendenin, and Carol-Ann and Jake Albert; her four great-grandchildren, Angie and Becca Scribner, and Blake and Noah Clendenin; her brother, Lawrence and Kendra Blake, brothers-in-law, Roland Scribner and Floyd Cobb; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 14 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lee Historical Society. Those who wish may sign an online register and leave written condolences at www.clayfuneralhome.com.
