BANGOR – Dorothy H. Zimmerman, 84, now sits at her Father’s table in heaven after hearing the call on Monday, July 7, 2014. She was born May 26, 1930, in Cleveland, daughter of Frank and Mary Marsliker.
She is predeceased by John J. Zimmerman Jr. her husband and partner of 60 years. Together they shaped six children, each a success in their own right, eight grandchildren and one adorable great-grandchild. Dot, as she preferred, was quick to laugh. She loved God and country; served with honor during the Korean War and instilled that love of country in her children. She loved her family, and did her best to support and shape them all. The co-owner of the Blue Star Cabins and Jay and Dee Laundry in Old Town, she taught her children hard work and dedication. It was not always sunshine and flowers, but she did her best. She loved a good book and quilting. She loved her children, grandchildren and friends and relished in their lives. She has left a legacy of love, devotion, caring, and joy.
She is survived by six children; daughter, Rita M. Raymond and her husband, Scott, and their children, Alec and Brandon; son, John J. Zimmerman III and his wife, Kerry, and their children, Jade T. Millar and her husband, Henry, and their daughter, Gabrielle, True F. Hesseltine, and Kara S. Zimmerman; daughter, Mary L. Beaumier and her husband, Joseph, and their son, Michael J.; daughter, Julie M. Zaetta and her husband, Mark, and their children, Alicia and Nickolas; son, Frank J. Zimmerman and his wife, Kathy; and son, Edward J. Zimmerman and his wife, Corey.
A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at a later date at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. Please remember her in your thoughts and prayers, in the smile of a child, or the warm sun on your face. Please let those you love know how you feel and live each day to the fullest.
