MADILL, OKLA. – Martha Frances McGuff Rogers Wilson, 70, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away on 11 June 2014, in Brooksville, Florida. She had moved there to tend to the care of her brother, John Martin McGuff, a USN, WWII Veteran, a native of Hampden, ME. We lost our dear, beloved Martha on Wednesday morning, 11 June, after an unexpected illness.
Martha was a native of Bangor and a graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School, Class of 1961.
Martha was predeceased by her father, Martin Frances McGuff; mother, Bernadine C. (Fraser) McGuff; her siblings, Catherine “Louise” Dow and Theresa B. Cyr; and her loving husband, Ronald “Ronnie” Lloyd Rogers, who was killed in service during the Vietnam War on 11 June 1967. Her legacy includes her sons, Christopher Lloyd Rogers and wife, Sandra, and Gregory John Wilson; and six grandchildren, Tristen, Kelly, Kyle, Laura, Mathew and Courtney. Her local Bangor family includes many nephews and nieces, Rita Bogan, Lisa Fidler, Gary Cyr, Barbara Sprague, Julie Yost and Steve Dow.
Martha’s careers included positions with the FBI, Diamond International, Sears and Roebuck Co. and the Michelin Tire Plant in Ardmore, OK, until her retirement. She was a tough, no-nonsense, loving, kind and compassionate woman, who dedicated much of her later years to the care and support of hospitalized community members and veterans.
An Interment Service will be held this Friday, 11 July 2014, at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, located at 449 Ohio St., Bangor, ME at 11 am. Martha will be laid to rest beside her parents and her husband in Bangor, Maine, where they will be together and rejoice with each other in Heaven. Following her Interment Service there will be a reception for friends and family at Saint Mary’s Parish Hall, located at 754 Ohio St., Bangor, ME.
