HERMON, Maine — Tony Reynolds, who recently completed a term on the Town Council, was tapped to served the remainder of an unexpired school committee term in a special election Tuesday.

Reynolds edged out his opponent, Ted Harris, in an 81-61 vote, Town Clerk Ruth Nickerson said after the polls closed and the ballots were counted.

The school committee position opened up in May, when member Ron Sherman resigned. Reynolds will serve out the remainder of Sherman’s term, which expires on June 30, 2016.
