Thunderstorm knocks out power in Aroostook County

BDN staff reports

CARIBOU, Maine — Heavy thunderstorms Thursday night knocked out power to more than 1,500 Emera Maine customers, mostly in Aroostook County, the utility reported.

By late Friday morning, power had been restored to most customers, Emera said. The impacted towns were Caribou, Masardis, Woodland, Limestone, Fort Fairfield and Presque Isle.

Emera Maine encourages customers to stay clear of downed power lines and trees in contact with power lines. Customers may report outages by calling Emera Maine at (207) 973-2020.
