Hartsgrove helps Sebasticook outlast Bangor

BANGOR, Maine — Zach Hartsgrove had a two-run double and a single and Cody Rice singled twice with two RBIs as Sebasticook defeated Bangor 9-7 in an elimination game of the District 3 Junior League baseball tournament at Mansfield Stadium.

Josh Emery also singled twice in support of winning pitcher Josh Perry, who worked into the sixth inning allowing just one run on four hits while striking out five batters.

Tyler Parke led Bangor with an RBI triple and a single.

Coastal 19, Machias 10

At Blue Hill on Wednesday, Harrison Walden struck out five batters and allowed just one earned runs over four innings to earn the pitching win.

Miles Brown came on to pitch the final two innings of relief for Coastal.

Teague Smallage had four hits for Coastal while Harrison Walden reached base four times and scored four runs. Andrew Szwez reached base three times and scored three runs before being injured while making a spectacular catch in shallow left field. Jed Sawyer had two doubles and drove in five runs for the winners.

Machias attempted a late rally, scoring five runs while batting its their lineup in the bottom of the sixth. Jack Emery had three hits and scored four runs while Jayden Rhodes reached base three times and scored twice and Caleb Campbell had two singles.

Jayden Rhodes, Kaysen Ferguson and Gavin Bixler all pitched for Machias.

D1, 11-12 all-stars

Bucksport 2, Moosabec 1

At Bucksport, pinch-runner Hunter Klenowski scored the winning run on an infield hit by Hunter Robichaud in the bottom of the seventh inning as Bucksport outlasted Moosabec despite entering that final rally without a hit in the game.

Cameron Grindle led off the Bucksport seventh with a single and came around to score on an RBI fielder’s choice by Christian Chase-Hurd. Roger Foss then singled before Klenowski came around to break the 1-1 tie.

Kaiden Crowley scored Moosabecs only run in the top of the seventh on a passed ball after reaching base on a fielder’s choice.

Grindle struck out 10 batters in six innings for Bucksport, while Moosabec’s Brady Reynolds pitched a complete game and had a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts through six innings.
