HOLDEN AND BANGOR – John Lee Monroe, 21, died unexpectedly July 2, 2014 at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 27, 1992 in Bangor, a son of Jack J. and Jenny L. (Gallant) Monroe.
John attended Bradley and Old Town Schools. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping with his dad. He dearly loved his 3 nephews Shawn, Xavier, and Cameron. John was a quiet person who bravely and courageously lived with Type 1 diabetes since age 3.
He is survived his parents Jack and Jenny; his fiancee, Margaret “Megan” Smith and his unborn child of Holden; sister, Sara Monroe of Bangor; grandmothers, Joanne Gallant of Bradley and Betsy Dewitt and her husband, Dick of So. Paris; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Leon Gallant; paternal grandparents, Barbara Levesque and Rene Monroe.
The family wishes to give a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors and nurses of the ICU department at EMMC and to Corey Webb and staff at the Diabetes Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Parish of the Resurrection, St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Bradley. Burial will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Bradley. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elizabeth Levenson Center, 159 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
