By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

MADISON, Maine — A North Anson man was killed early Sunday when he lost control of his Jeep on River Road in Madison, police said.

Eugene Hutchins, 54, apparently left the road and traveled a distance in a ditch before hitting a culvert, Madison Police Chief Barry Moores said.

Hutchins was ejected from the vehicle, which subsequently crashed into a utility pole, Moores said.

Hutchins was pronounced dead at the scene, the police chief said.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and Hutchins was not carrying any passengers, according to Moores.

The accident remains under investigation.
