Garth K. Currier

SIDNEY – Garth K. Currier, 60, of Sidney, died Wednesday June 25, 2014 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with his loving family by his side after a long battle with heart disease.

He was born in New Brunswick, Canada, June 5, 1954 the son of Ralph and Audrey (Wood) Currier. He grew up in Calais, Maine and graduated from Calais High School. Garth married Catherine Jamo in Millinocket in 1975. They later moved to the Robbinston area to raise their family. Garth worked 18 years for the Bangor Daily News as a District Manager, responsible for managing distribution throughout Washington County. After retiring, Garth and Cathy settled in Sidney.

Garth had an outgoing personality and formed friendships easily with those he met. His favorite times were supporting his children’s and then his grandchildren’s athletic pursuits and entertaining friends and family on their deck overlooking the St. Croix River. Recently he enjoyed visiting with his friends at Longfellow’s Greenhouses in Manchester.

Garth is survived by his wife of 39 years, Catherine Currier; his son, Jason Currier and his wife, Colleen, of Fairfield, CT; his daughter, Sarah Dube and her husband, Bob, of Sidney; and his grandchildren, Kristen and Sam Dube, Grace, Caroline and Isabelle Currier. He is also survived by his dear brother, Greg and other siblings Brian, Pam and Joanna and was predeceased by his parents and brother, Richard.

A private memorial service will be held at a future date. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Travis Roy Foundation, c/o Hemenway & Barnes LLP, 60 State Street, 8th Floor, Boston, MA 02109.
