Looke powers Trenton Legion baseball team past Hampden

HAMPDEN — Garrison Looke recorded a double, single and three RBIs to help Trenton roll by Hampden 16-4 in Zone 1 American Legion baseball action Sunday.

Sid St. Peter chipped in with a two-run home run for the winners while Joe Archambault and Scott Boies each notched an RBI double and an RBI single. Dakota Chipman contributed with three singles and two RBIs while Conor Maguire added a single, triple and RBI.

Gage Feeney earned the victory by giving up only four hits over eight innings while striking out five.

For Hampden, Nick Guerette, Jackson Gilmore, Mike Turner, Tyler Beaton, and Gresley Langbein each had a single.

At Bangor on Saturday, left-hander Trevor DeLaite allowed only five hits and a walk while striking out 12 to lead Bangor by Hampden.

Ryan Brookings hit a double for Bangor while Andrew Hillier chipped in with a single and sacrifice fly. Hunter Boyce also had a sacrifice fly and James Prescott added a single.

Jackson Grimme, Billy Campbell, and Conor Farmer each singled for Hampden.

Bangor 7, Waldo 0

At Bangor on Friday night, Andrew Hillier tossed six shutout innings to give Bangor the victory.

Sam Huston chipped in with an RBI triple and a single while Ben Crichton added an RBI double and single. Kyle Stevenson contributed an RBI double and single while Peter Kemble, Jim Prescott and Ryan Gagne each singled.

Ollie Brown singled twice for Waldo while Matt Smith and David Clark each added a single.

Penquis 7, Hampden 1

At Hampden on Friday, Ryan Rebar allowed only three hits and struck out 10 to lift Penquis to the victory.

Rebar also contributed at the plate with a solo homer and double. Aaron Smestad chipped in with two singles and Kaleb Smith doubled.

Jordan Dysart notched a single and double for Hampden and Ben Wheeler had an RBI double.

At the George Stevens Academy field in Blue Hill on Friday night, Trenton’s Jon Phelps came on in relief with the bases loaded and one out and then struck out the next two batters to record the save.

Steven Hanscom earned the win, pitching six innings while giving up four hits and two earned runs. Phelps contributed with a triple and two RBIs. Hank Vinall chipped in with a double and Conor Maguire singled.

For Brewer, Galan Williamson gave up one earned run over five innings. Jeff Weeks had two singles while Carter DeRedin doubled and Kyle Alexander singled.

Junior Legion

Bangor sweeps Oxford Hills

At the Oxford Hills High School field in South Paris on Saturday, the Bangor Cadets earned a doubleheader sweep over Oxford Hills, 7-4 and 10-1 to improve their record to 7-3 while Oxford Hills slipped to 5-4.

Gary Farnham sparked Bangor in the first game with a double, single and two RBIs. Winning pitcher Nick Cowperthwaite and Joey Moir each chipped in with three singles, with Moir driving in a run.

Bailey West notched two singles for Oxford Hills and Tyler Curtis tripled and drove in two runs. Chris Burns also drove in two runs.

In the second game, Cowperthwaite, Brian Pierce and Zach Ireland each recorded two singles to spark Bangor. Cowperthwaite, Farnham, Jesse Colford and Ireland each drove in a run and Moire added a double.

Tanner Goodine earned the win by scattering seven hits and two walks while striking out five.

Curtis doubled and singled for Oxford Hills and Curtis singled twice.
