PORTLAND, Maine — A man walking along Mountfort Street was held up in broad daylight by a trio of men wearing bandanas as masks, Portland police Lt. James Sweatt said late Monday afternoon.
According to Sweatt, a man reported to police he was walking in the area of 116 Mountfort St. at around noon Monday when he was approached by three black males and robbed at gunpoint.
“The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money and the victim’s backpack,” Sweatt said in a department announcement.
All three men were described as wearing black clothing with bandanas covering their faces, Sweatt said. He said one man is about 6 feet, 3 inches tall and had shoulder-length dreadlocks under a black hat.
Another is 5 feet, 9 inches tall, but police did not release a height for the third suspect.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen the crime, the suspects or anything suspicious in the area to call 874-8533.
