STEUBEN – F. Lorraine Dorr, 88 has gone to join and care for her family who went before her; her husband Lyle, her daughter Heidi, and twin sons Donnie and David, June 16, 2014. She was born Jan. 25, 1926 in Portland.
She was known as the cookie lady because she liked to make cookies for everybody. She was also known for her Victorian crochet and fancy knitting.
Lorraine loved being at the home that she and Lyle retired to where she tended her flower gardens and watched her birds (who all shared the name Dicky).
She is survived by her son, Lyle “Kippy” Dorr Jr. of Florida and Robert Dorr Sr. who stayed by her side and was her loving caregiver. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; Billy, Ricky and Bob, Lorraine, Bobby and Jeremy, Jason, Bert and Denton and their spouses as well as 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by a sister-in-law, Mytress, and a life-long friend, Anne Harriman. The family would like to express a special thank you to Janet Dorr, for her care of Lorraine, and Downeast Community Health and Counseling Hospice Services and Downeast Hospice Volunteers.
A memorial service will be held at the Steuben Fire Station meeting room 2 p.m. Friday, June 20th, with the Rev. Phyllis Merritt officiating. Refreshments will be served following the service.
