BANGOR, Maine — Cirque Du Soleil will perform seven shows in five days starting Wednesday, June 18, at the Cross Insurance Center.

In a Wednesday morning announcement, Cross Center officials said the 12:30 p.m. Saturday performance, which was to be the eighth performance, has been canceled. Those who purchased tickets to that show can log onto Ticketmaster, call 1-800-745-3000, or visit the Cross Insurance Center box office, depending on point of purchase, to exchange their 12:30 Saturday ticket for another Bangor performance.

The cancellation was the decision of the tour managers of Cirque du Soleil, and no additional information regarding the cancellation was available Wednesday morning.

The show, Varekai, will be the first ever Cirque Du Soleil performance at the Cross Insurance Center and is expected to draw large crowds to Bangor from June 18-22.

Global Spectrum managers of the Cross Insurance Center caution attendees to be aware of the thousands of visitors who will be traveling to Bangor, in addition to the normal downtown traffic and construction, for Cirque Du Soleil and Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion’s Willie Nelson and Friends concert on Thursday, June 19.

On Saturday, June 21 there also will be the CVB Annual Beer Fest.

“We’re in the business to deliver great entertainment, and next week is a good example of the growth of this industry in our community. We’re thrilled to be providing a piece of the excitement taking place in Bangor. We want to make sure that everyone is aware that with all of these things happening, and all of these people coming to the downtown area, there may be some traffic flow issues and patrons should allow themselves enough time to arrive safely and without missing the show,” said Joe Imbriaco, general manager for Cross Insurance Center.

Because of the expected increase in traffic, Global Spectrum suggests all event attendees leave extra time to get to the venue and to their seats in time for the start of the performance. They also suggest taking Interstate 395 when possible to avoid more downtown traffic.

Doors will open one hour prior to showtime for every show. Parking will be available off Buck Street in the Cross Insurance Center lots. VIP Parking for the show is available in the lot directly next to the venue for $10 and can be purchased in advance. Tickets are $49-$139 for adults, $30-$112 for children 12 and under, and $44.50-$89.50 for military, seniors and students. VIP parking and tickets are still available for all shows and can be purchased online at, by calling 800-745-3000, or in person at the Cross Insurance Center box office.
