Carter re-elected; Holm wins seat on Machias board

MACHIAS, Maine — Aubrey ‘Skip’ Carter was re-elected to a three-year term on the Machias Board of Selectmen Tuesday, and Eric Holm narrowly won election to an open seat.

Carter received 133 votes to lead the field of five candidates.

Holm received 123 votes to win the seat being vacated by Cony Upton. He was expected to participate in his first meeting as a selectman Wednesday evening. Upton did not seek re-election.

James Whalen ran a close third with 121 votes. Rounding out the field were Nancy Manchester with 63 votes and Stephen Smith with 45 votes.
