BANGOR, Maine — Two people were arrested Monday night in connection with a trafficking operation occurring at a Center Street apartment, according to officials.
Katrina Meucci, 22, of Bangor and Anthony Cabal, a 20-year-old transient, are both facing an oxycodone trafficking charge, according to Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Commander Peter Arno.
Investigative efforts into the activities at the 95 Center Street location had been transpiring over the last several weeks, according to Arno.
He added that drug agents conducted numerous undercover purchases of oxycodone from individuals connected to the case, including Meucci and Cabal.
On Monday night, MDEA agents took Cabal and Meucci into custody as they left the apartment, Arno said. A search warrant was executed on the apartment along with a vehicle the pair were in at the time of their arrest. Arno said the search turned up $3,000 in cash and an undisclosed amount of drugs.
Cabal was charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule drugs and Meucci with trafficking in schedule drugs, Arno said. Cabal’s charge was elevated because of the fact the drugs were being sold less than 1,000 feet from John Bapst High School.
At the time of the arrest, Cabal had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, one out of Lewiston and one out of New York City, Arno said.
Cabal and Meucci were taken to Penobscot County Jail.
Arno said more arrests are likely in the case.
Bangor and Brewer police assisted the MDEA agents.
