VAN BUREN – Roger J. Ouellette, 85, died peacefully Monday, June 9, 2014, at a Van Buren healthcare facility. He was born June 8, 1929, in Van Buren, a son of the late Donat and Annie Ouellette.
Roger last worked as a mechanic with former Fongemie Ford, Van Buren, for over 20 years, before retiring for medical reasons. Previously he worked with Loring Air Force Base for several years. Roger loved working on cars and spent hours upon hours tuning vehicles to race on Spud Speedway. He was a devoted husband and cherished caring for his wife during her stay at Borderview, or simply enjoying a long car ride with her.
He is survived by: two daughters, Diane Ouellette Berube and her husband, Gilman of Frenchville and Greta Ouellette and her partner, Rodney Soucy of Van Buren; two sons, Vernon Ouellette and his wife, Elaine and Wayne Ouellette and his wife, Lorna, all of Van Buren; ten grandchildren, Jamie, Jeffrey, Crystal, Shannon, Jennifer, Kerri, Tracy, Sara, Jason and Vicky; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Roger is predeceased by one brother, Rosaire Ouellette; and three sisters, Antoinette Beaulieu, Rita Hall, and Marcella Cyr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday morning, 9:30 -10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Grand River Cemetery, Van Buren.
