MILLINOCKET – Lillian A. Caruso, 103, passed away at a local healthcare facility Monday, June 9, 2014. Lillian was born February 20, 1911, in Millinocket, the daughter of Peter and Laura (Madore) Mayo.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Hilda Caruso of Cream Ride, New Jersey; a daughter, Donna Rush of Millinocket; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Rosario; several brothers and sisters; son-in-law, Bill Rush; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Lillian was a communicant of St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella – Little Flower Circle, Plus and Minus, and AARP. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, making puzzles, gardening, and cooking. Her most favorite spot to be was at camp on Millinocket Lake.
Lillian’s family would like to give special thanks to the staffs at Sweet Seniors in East Millinocket and Katahdin Healthcare in Millinocket for the loving care they gave her.
At her request there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Committal services will be 12 noon Saturday, June 14 at Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Lillian may be made to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O.
