HARRISON, Maine — A 73-year-old Rumford man was in critical condition after a Saturday crash in which he struck a truck while riding his motorcycle.

Stanwood Horne was operating a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Norway Road when he attempted to pass a 2004 Ford F150 truck driven by George Moore, 56, of Topsham, according to a news release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Horne tried to pass the truck on the right as Moore was turning right onto Bolsters Mill Road, according to police. His motorcycle struck the truck, and he was thrown off his vehicle.

He suffered injuries that included head trauma, said police. He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was listed in critical condition.

He was not wearing a helmet, according to police.

The crash occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
