ST. FRANCIS, Maine — A St. Francis teenager suffered minor injuries after a single vehicle crash in the area Saturday morning.

Darrell Crandall, chief deputy of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, said Sunday the accident took place on Route 161 just after 9 a.m.

Paige Michaud, 18, was headed eastbound in a 2006 Ford Focus when she lost control of her vehicle, skidded off the roadway and went over an embankment. Michaud, the sole vehicle occupant, suffered injuries that weren’t life threatening.

She was taken by ambulance to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent.

Crandall said the crash remains under investigation, but speed appears to be a contributing factor.
