Officials investigating Milford public works fire

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

MILFORD, Maine — Officials are investigating a fire that broke out at the town’s Public Works storage facility late Wednesday evening.

Milford Fire Chief Chris Matson said Thursday a witness noticed the fire on the Call Road and came into the station to report it around 10:30 p.m.

Milford firefighters went to investigate and found smoke and fire coming out of the building, but were able to contain it in about 20 minutes, Matson said.

No vehicles were damaged, but the fire caused about $1,500 to $2,000 in damage, Matson said.

The state fire marshal’s office is investigating a cause.

“It’s pretty evident that entry was forced before the fire,” said Matson.

Officials continue to investigate the fire. Milford crews did not require mutual aid.
