MARIAVILLE – Gordon F. Fellis, 82, died peacefully at his home May 23, 2014. He was born in Syracuse, NY, August 30, 1931 the son of Marion (Carpenter) and Francis Fellis.
Gordon and his family moved from Long Island, NY to Maine early in his life, first to Strong and then to Lamoine. He completed 9 years of schooling before he had learned enough and joined the work force. He served in the US Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He married Dianne Whitmore, his sweetheart of many years, and settled at their home in Mariaville. Gordon worked for Harold MacQuinn and Bridge Construction Co. before starting his own business in the early 1970’s. He made his business flourish through his honesty, hard work, and support of his wife. Together they raised seven children and suffered the loss of two of them. They both loved their children immensely and always put them first. Besides love of family, Gordon loved animals, nature and was well read. Though a big man and sometimes gruff-appearing, he was the kindest, gentlest soul. His heart was as big as his stature. Gordon was a proud member of the NRA and USO.
He leaves behind many good friends within and beyond his community. He will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by 5 of his children, Stephen and wife, Darlene, and their boys, Gordon, Daniel, Gregory, and William, Libby Morse and husband, Gene, and their children, Scott and Tim Southard, Teresa Fellis and partner, Bill Grindle, Marion Baron and husband, Eric, Craig and wife Meghan and their children, Casey, Jonathan, Brittany, Orion, and Thomas; great-grandchildren, Cole, Eli, Noah, Lydia, Cooper, and Maci; sister, Marion McDevitt; his loving companion, Barbara Boulier, to whom the family is grateful for all her help and support. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dianne W. Fellis; two children, Gordon F. Fellis, Jr., and Kimberly J. Fellis; and brother, Richard Fellis.
